Amphitheater Music Events

With the Ralph Stanley Museum and the Traditional Mountain Music Center nearby, it’s no surprise that music is an integral part of the park experience. Gospel shows are planned each Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend as well as on Father’s Day. Plan early, as these free events have drawn crowds of up to 20,000 people. During these shows, a freewill offering is collected and divided among the singing groups. These events have made us an Affiliated Partner with the Crooked Road, a 250-mile route that meanders through the mountains of southwest Virginia, celebrating the region’s unique music heritage.
The amphitheater presents special programs (and yes, more music!) periodically throughout the summer season. The amphitheater may be reserved for rental when it is not scheduled for park use. Call the Park Office for more information.
