Area Attractions

With its unique geography the Breaks Interstate Park offers all there is to love about Southwestern Virginia, linked to the unbridled energy of its neighboring sites in Eastern Kentucky. Adding in its affiliations with other organizations, the Breaks Interstate Park becomes a very rich experience indeed.  We open windows into the region’s unique musical and historical heritage as well as its abundant natural beauties. Follow the trail is the catchphrase here, and when you do you’ll have choices: a bike trail, a birding and wildlife trail, as well as an artisan’s trail and a 250-mile route that focuses on the vitality of our musical heritage. An Appalachian-based theatre collaborative, a Civil War museum, and a driving route through Hatfield-McCoy country continue to round out the story. But with this quick list, we have only hinted at what lies in store. Scroll down for details on specific attractions.
