MARCH
30 — RHODODENDRON RESTAURANT opens for spring.
30 — Annual EASTER EGG HUNT at Potter's Knoll. Begins at noon.
31 — EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE at Potter's Knoll shelter. Begins at 6 a.m.
31 — Special EASTER BUFFET DINNER in the Rhododendron Restaurant.
APRIL
20 — INTERNATIONAL MIGRATORY BIRD DAY & EARTH DAY Service Project. Various bird hikes and volunteer opportunities will be available.
MAY
12 — Celebrate MOTHER'S DAY at the Rhododendron Restaurant with a special buffet. Mothers receive a discount! A Spring Wildflower Hike will also be held.
18 — KIDS TO PARKS DAY is devoted to getting kids involved at state parks. Activities and programming to be scheduled.
24 - 27 — "JUBILEE IN THE BREAKS" Memorial Day Gospel Singing.
JUNE
1 — NATIONAL TRAILS DAY — Various staff-led and self-guided trail walks will be available, as well as volunteer opportunities.
8 — GET OUTDOORS DAY — Various outdoor recreational opportunities available.
15 - 16 — "A GOSPEL MUSIC CELEBRATION IN THE MOUNTAINS" Father's Day Gospel Sing.
18 — WORLD'S LARGEST SWIMMING LESSON
22 — GREAT AMERICAN BACKYARD CAMPOUT
21 - 23 — ECHOES IN THE CANYON Civil War Reenactment and Living History.
JULY
4 — INDEPENDENCE DAY — Various outdoor and recreational opportunities will be available.
13 — McClure River Kiwanis CAR SHOW
AUGUST
4 — RICHARD POTTER DAY
9 - 11 — SETTLERS WEEKEND - stories and demonstrations of the ways of life our the area's first settlers.
30 - September 2 — Annual TRI-STATE GOSPEL SING
SEPTEMBER
8 — NATIONAL DAY OF REMEMBRANCE
20 - 21 — NATURALIST WEEKEND — Various speakers, hikes, and workshops devoted to the area's natural resources.
28 — NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY
OCTOBER
Looking for great fall colors? Our SPECTACULAR FALL FOLIAGE generally peaks in mid-October.Water is released annually from the John Flannagan Reservoir during the first four weekends in October to create from Class two up to Class six rapids -- WORLD CLASS WHITEWATER -- on the Russell Fork River through Breaks Gorge.
5 — GRUNDY AND CLINTWOOD KIWANIS ANNUAL 5K RUN begins at 10 a.m.
12 — MOLASSES STIR OFF begins at 7:00 a.m.
19 — PIKE COUNTY EXTENSION'S “HOMEMAKING IN THE MOUNTAINS” annual regional craft event held in the Rhododendron Conference Center.
25 - 26 — HALLOWEEN SPECTACULAR will include a campsite decorating contest, costume contest, campground trick or treat and more.
NOVEMBER
1 - 3 — APPALACHIAN HERITAGE FESTIVAL
11 — VETERANS DAY
21 — Join us for a special THANKSGIVING FEAST in the Rhododendron Restaurant! Turkey, all the fixings and much more. Thanksgiving Dinner Buffet served from 11 am to 6 p.m. No reservations required.
