Green forested mountains with fog and clouds in the valleys, rocky cliff on the right side, and a distant tower on the horizon.
  • The Breaks Interstate Park is located in a remote area. While the Breaks is surrounded by rugged beauty, this can make getting here a challenge. All roads leading to the Breaks are mountainous, narrow, and curvy. Please plan accordingly. If this is your first trip to the Breaks, we recommend you plan on arriving before dark.

  • For our friends with larger RVs, please call ahead ((276) 865-4413 Ext. 3201) before making your reservations so that we can find the best sites to suite your camper. We want to make sure we rent you a site that is the appropriate size for your camper.

You cannot ride ATVs in the campground area. - ATVs may use the front gate and main road to travel to the lodge and visitor center, continuing up to Catawba Lodge. However, they are not permitted beyond the yellow gate at Catawba.

ATV access to Breaks Interstate Park is available via Trail 15, which connects directly to Spearhead Trails’ Ridgeview system. From there, riders can also access the Coal Canyon system. The trailhead is located on park property, and detailed maps and descriptions of both trail systems are available on Spearhead Trails' website.

Once inside the park via Trail 15, riders are permitted to travel on the park’s main road up to the Visitor Center. ATVs may also enter through the park’s front gate, as access is available from multiple trailheads. Please note: if you're not staying overnight at the park, a standard entrance fee is required for ATVs just like any other vehicle.
